ARRIVING IN MELBOURNE / AUSTRALIA

8000 miles, 15 Hours, 2 movies, some broken sleep and a few cocktails later, I arrived in Melbourne to a brisk, cold, rainy morning. I had just gotten used to the beginning of summer back in the US and now I was thrust back into the winter. Here the winters do not even compare to the cold I have experienced in Colorado, but two winters in a row - what can I say - guess I did not plan well!

26 years ago when I first lived in Melbourne, I lived with a good friend Nicole, who now lives near Bells Beach in Torquay, Victoria. She offered to fetch me from the airport and put me up while Bella was in quarantine. It has been awesome re-uniting with her again and meeting her children.

Four days have passed and I have found a 4x4 vehicle, gone out to breakfast at some amazing quaint little hole-in-the-wall cafes, drunk cappuccinos and eaten some delicious cuisine. Spent some early mornings and late evenings exploring and walking the foreshores, breathing in the ocean air once again. It has been years since I have done this, long overdue and just what I needed after feeling burnt out from living the rat-race in America. I know I have made the right decision moving back here.

My plans once Bella gets out of quarantine are to take the ocean road up the east coast to Mooloolaba, just above Brisbane - car camping, staying and re-uniting with friends along the way, who I have not seen in over a decade. I still have 7 days before that happens. I am not in a hurry, I just want to reflect on my life and enjoy the down time.

Stayed tuned for my next blog....thanks for reading!!!!
